BIBLE STUDY FROM JANET CARNELL
The chorus Oceans has been speaking to
me a lot lately about trusting in God. Especially as we go through the times we
are in at the moment.
I felt God saying to me that we need to get out of
the boat and our comfort zone and move.
The song talks of our trusting him implicitly as we are called by him to
do great things 1 Peter 2 v 9
Once we had to have an intermediary, but now we can come directly into
his presence.
Hebrews 4 v 16
We can come with bold assurance. Hebrews 7 v18,
Hebrews 10 v 19-22
'You call me out upon the waters, the great unknown where my feet may
fail, and I can call upon your name. I am yours and you are mine.'
We walk by faith not by sight. 2 Cor 5 v 7
When Jesus called Peter out to him on the sea, he was fine until he took
his eyes off Jesus and looked at the storm. Matt 14 v 28-30
‘Tell me to come to you and I'll do it.’ But once Peter stopped looking
at Jesus himself, he began to sink, but Jesus reached out to him and brought
him to safety.
'I call upon your name and keep my eyes above the waves. Is 12 v 2
'Your grace abounds in deepest waters; your sovereign hand will guide me.’
Acts 16 v 31
We are able to rest in Christ though our circumstances be difficult. Ps
62 v1
Despite the season we find ourselves in we can be at peace. Ecc 3 v1-8
We can have internal peace in Jesus. John 14 v27, John 16 v 29-33
The whole world circumstances are covered in Christ. Eph 2 v14-15
We know 'You've never failed me, and you won't start now.’ When 13 v 8
So, we can go 'Wherever you would call me, take me deeper than my feet
could ever wander.'
Ps 107 v 28-30
We can put our trust in God and meditate on his word – ‘Our faith will
be made stronger in the presence of my Saviour.’
In these times of trouble therefore, we can and will be led deeper if we
are willing to get out of the boat and walk on the water.
