BIBLE STUDIES FROM NLC LEADERS - PETER TOPLISS
Basic principles!
ACTS.2:37-47
I thought it would be appropriate to look at the basic principles of the
beginnings of the Church.
ACTS.2:42.
The underlying principle: The new believers DEVOTED
themselves. They continued steadfastly in just four basic principles.
Devotion implies a great determination to continue.
1. The Apostles' doctrine (teaching). MT.28:18-20. LK.24:27. MT.5:1-7:29.
2. Fellowship. Koinonia, partnership, community participation.
This is shared life. Not philosophical but really practical. HSBC.
10:24-25. JN.13:12-15. JN.15:12.
3. Breaking bread. To obey the command of Jesus which involves
eating together because that is the context of the breaking of bread.
MT.26:26-29; 1COR.11:23-26; 1COR.10:16-17. Participation in the
body and blood!
4. Prayer. Pray with and in the Spirit. ROM.8:26-27; EPH.6:18.
In English and in tongues. 1COR. 14:15.
This is the simplicity of the life of the Church which present circumstances
could be directing us towards.
N.B. The results of this kind of Church life.
