SUMMER HOLIDAY SCHEME
Community Youngstars. We had a great time and a lot of families were blessed. Please read on to find out about a project that is running this year that needs your help...
The RAY (Rother Action Youth) project is set up to provide activities for children throughout the summer holidays. It’s run by a group of different people from a variety of backgrounds who want to provide a fun time for children from the Grangewood, Birdholme, Boythorpe and St Augustine areas of Chesterfield.
We need people to help with different things, from making sandwiches, sorting food provided by Fairshare, to helping ‘hands-on’ with activities. There are different needs on different days, but the main need for help is:
Tuesdays 3pm-6pm (helping with activities);
Wednesdays and Fridays 11am -2pm (making sandwiches);
Fridays 2pm -4pm (helping with activities).
You don’t need to be there the whole time, just an hour or so would be appreciated. The activity sessions are taking place on Tuesday in St Augustine’s church (Derby Road) and on Fri on the Langer Field Park.
This is a great chance for us to get to know some of the families who potentially will be coming to Umbrellas in the future, and also to really get to know some of the people who are already working here, from local councillors to Children’s Centre staff, to volunteers.
If you want to know more, or are interested in coming along to help, then contact Jane Bentley. This is our way of being salt and light to the community.
