NEWS FROM WATOTO
Over £25,000 in donations from UK supporters have helped us to purchase a much-needed off-road vehicle for our social work team. Now our team can travel further to identify the surviving relatives of orphaned and abandoned children.
UK Director, Paul Houiellebecq said, ‘This vehicle is vital for our social work department as it allows us to visit communities to find existing family members and trace the history of children, giving them an understanding of their roots and identity.
The team will be travelling long distances, across rough terrain, to reach rural areas and this is the first vehicle dedicated solely to these searches.
Thank you to everyone in the UK for helping us to do all we can to connect children with their relatives and gain an understanding of their story. Because of you, these children have hope and a future.’
The vehicle was purchased at the end of 2016 with donations given by UK supporters to meet Watoto’s general needs. Donations such as these, outside of regular sponsorship, allow us to improve our care for vulnerable women and children, raising them to be the leaders who will transform their nation. Thank you for your support.
