'THROUGH FOOTBALL I CAN SHARE THE GOSPEL'
Eyong Enoh played in Cyprus and South Africa before getting his break with Ajax in Amsterdam then after six seasons moved to Antalyaspor in Turkey this year. He will be playing for the Cameroon national team tonight against Croatia in the World Cup in Brazil...
His faith in Jesus is an important part of Enoh's life. 'I did not grow up in a Christian family background. My parents did not go to church, but a friend of mine in school spoke to me about the Lord Jesus. His words touched my heart and the gospel became very real to me. Ever since that day I have just been in love with Jesus.
Once I gave my heart to Christ I knew I found the thing I needed because I felt peace in my heart - that peace that cannot be traded for anything. The second thing that came to me was that I understood I was living with a purpose. There was a reason I was alive - to talk about Jesus.
I realised God had given me a talent and football was part of it. Through football I could preach the gospel also....
In Romans 10:9 you read: 'If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord' and believe in your heart God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.'
It is in confessing the Lord Jesus Christ that you can receive that eternal life that he paid for on the cross. That is how I got it. That is how anybody can get it.
When you recognise that Jesus died on the cross, paid the price for you and has taken care of your sins and you accept him into your heart, you automatically become a child of God. It's not up to you. It is up to him. He has already done it.'
Cameroon may not be one of the favourites for the World Cup... but whatever
the outcome Eyong Enoh's relationship with Jesus will make him a winner!
