CHESTERFIELD SUNDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER
Really enjoyed the worship at Chesterfield this morning - you could tell God was ministering as we reached out to him. Lisa shared how in the midst of all kinds of pressure and stress she had cried out to God and had felt it all lift from her shoulders.
Dave presented a look back at everything we as a church have achieved over the last two months by the grace of God. 'We are punching well above our weight!' Lucy talked about her time as a volunteer in India this summer and presented a great slideshow of her pictures of the children she worked with. There were also pictures from YoungStars, Scarborough, Party in the Park and Focus. How did we fit it all in?
Alison encouraged us that now is not the time to take our feet of the pedals and freewheel - we need to keep pushing ahead in the kingdom of God. God had stirred her up with some new strategies to see more increase in the church: Cafe Church for teens, new ideas to support children's ministry, a drop-in advice centre, increased pastoral support through mentoring.
We ended by breaking bread together - using a 'Desperate Dan' sized loaf (we have a very big God!).
One more piece of good news - Patrick and Faye have announced their engagement. Congratulations to you both!
