Oh Martha!

Jesus & his disciples, to the village

On their way

Martha opened up her home

“Come on in, please stay!”

Now Martha was so busy

Cooking up a treat

But Mary simply listened

Whilst sitting at Jesus feet.

Martha couldn’t see Jesus

She’d looked the other way

With do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do

Distracted all day!

Mary, at the feet of Jesus

Saw him face to face

Heard every word he spoke

Was in the right place.

Martha fumed at Mary

Told Jesus it was not fair!

That Mary was doing nothing

That she clearly didn’t care!

So, Jesus smiled, ‘now Martha!’

‘Oh Martha, don’t be vexed

Only one thing is needed, see,

Mary has chosen what is BEST!’
